Many good points on what to expect for people wanting to retire to Ecuador but, too much information on starting and operating a business in Ecuador. Should have put all the business related information in a separate book for people who want to operate a business. My idea of retirement is to relax and enjoy my remaining time, not jump into another bureaucratic business situation in a foreign country. We have a house in Ecuador (Cotacachi) and I would caution anyone against taking this book too seriously. Yes, we had a burglary, but only because we were very naïve when we first arrived. There is virtually no violent crime, and if you don't flaunt your "stuff" too much with the indigenous people there, you're fine. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We love Ecuador!
